Are the wiper plugs on the steering columns on a 88-94 interchangeable when swapping columns? It going in a 90 C2500HD and it came out of a 94 chevy diesel.

They should be the same unless the two trucks had different wipers. For instance: your 90 truck has the intermittent wiper function and one the column came from does not. In that case, you would either lose your intermittent function and only have low and high. OR: You could take your wiper switch and transfer it to the new column. I had to that on one of my brother's old cars. I think it was a Chevy Celebrity. The hard part is pulling the wheel off and then the locking plate so you can access the switch/turn signal stalk mount.

both columns are exactly the same setup. Nothing different in wipers, high beams, etc. Someone told me the wiper connecting plugs might be different. Lmc has 88-94 with the same wiper setup.

It should be the same then. I know the columns were the same from 88-94, they changed the columns and entire dash in 95. I know on some GM cars (like the Celebrity I mentioned) had different options such as intermittent wiper functions, cruise control, etc. so not all columns were equipped with those switches so you had to swap over the switches when replacing a damaged column. Speaking of which, why are you replacing your column? :dunno:
Was it damaged by an attepted theft, or did you suffer from the infamous loose tilt mechanism causing the column to wobble all around?

loose tilt plus all the print/markings worn off. I can pull the steering in and out about a inch thats how bad this one is. I have the pivot pin remover but will fix it and keep it as spare for when the replacement gets loose in the tilt. I got the column from a junkyard for 40 bucks. Its still not the right column. I need a manual trany column with no cruise control. Must be a shortage on manual trany steering columns in 1990.

I've always had problems find any column for a floor shift vehicle.:dunno: If you have the loose tilt, I know how to fix it. Between me and all my brothers owning GM cars, we all had that problem at one point. I learned how to repair it. You have to basically tear apart the whole column though. There are 4 screws that hold the tilt mechanism in place. If you tighten them it will just loosen again over time. But if you remove them and put loctite on the threads and then tighten them, they won't come loose again. You can get by just doin the two screw that are easiest to get to, but to do all four, you need to completely remove the wiper switch stalk, and the entire turn signal mechanism and everything, plus the ign key switch. My brother had a friend who was a locksmith and he taught me how to do it after I paid him to do on my cutlass, then I had him "warranty" his work after it loosened again after about a year. (He also fessesd up that he didn't use loctite the first time he did it. He said it usually happens more on trucks that travel on bumpy roads or offroad a lot, and on cars with woofer that produce a lot of bass. The vibration is what loosens the screws. But he was nice enough to let me watch him do the entire job, and I ended up doing it on another Cutlass I bought and it had the loose tilt.
