Just wondering if any of you have put 285/70/17's on a Sierra or Silverado without a lift. I have turned my torsion bars and gained about 2 inches in the front leveling it with the back. My truck came stock with 245/70/17's but they were way too small. My truck is two wheel drive but its set up unique with torsion bars and crew cab bed on extended cab frame. It sets up about the same hieght as Z71 maybe a little higher. Im running 265/70/17 toyo open country at's right now and have enjoyed them. They do have a roar but not too loud.

If you are running stock wheels, they might work.
Turn your front wheels all the way and see how much room is left between the tire and fender well. That's where they will rub. If you have 3/4 of an inch clearance there, the 285s would probably be fine, although you still might get a small rub when turned hard over bumps.

They should fit fine. I ran 285/70/17's on my 05 Silvy 1500 with no issues. It was 4wd, but appears that it was about the same height as you. Lots of other folks have also run 285's with no issues.
