Why can't All GM Vehicles Be Leak Free?

OK, my truck is 7 years old with 54,981 miles on it. When it was about 6 months old, it had an oil leak. Oil leaks were quite common on the 5.3 and 6.0 aluminum block engines. After 3 tries, the dealer had it fixed and it has not leaked since. I went out to change my oil today and saw PS fluid dripping from the front of my skid plate. I was told a year or so ago that my PS hoses were starting to leak, but not much, just barely wet at the connections. They are leaking like a sieve now.

Also, I put my truck into 4hi (I use Auto4wd all winter) to drive it up my ramps so they don't slide out. I noticed "Service Traction Control/Service Stabilitrak" started flashing on my DIC and my TC idiot light was on. I was pissed as I have heard of this very common issue, but had never had it. After finishing my oil change and putting it back into 2wd, the lights went out and when I put it back into 4hi, they did not come back on. What is the cause of this?

My truck had a sensor leak, and my 07 had a rear main seal leak.

Only real "leaks" I have seen in my many GM trucks. So to answer your question, they do make many that don't

Quit being a baby and fix your PS hose

I've never had a single leak in any of my GM trucks but most I didn't own all that long. My 07 is dry as a bone underneath. Wonder if extreme temps could contribute to the leakage?

I'd also like to add that the PO of my Vette had it in for an oil leak soon after he got it. I have all the records. And he was from Alabama.

Is it really that hard to make a vehicle that doesn't leak?

I certainly agree that they should not leak. I hate leaks.

I've never had a Honda drop any oil on my driveway. You'd THINK GM could follow suit.

Seem GM had a lot more trouble with the aluminum engines in the 900s as far as leaks and oil consumption goes. Maybe the RWD guys that were used to iron didn't talk to the FWD guys that were used to aluminum.

The PS hoses are a common issue in the 900's. They are cheap parts.

Gotta remember, the 900's were being developed while GM was trying to avoid bankruptcy. Lots of cost cutting and cheap parts.

My '07 had the rear main sea leak but my '91, my '01 and '08 were all leak free while I owned them.
