Like the title says, I'm looking for input on radar detectors. I'm hoping for input from guys with actual long-term experience.

I'd prefer honest, objective reviews... even if you have to tell me the one you bought sucks. :D

Thanks, Guys and Girls!

escort makes good ones just depends on your price. i got a cobra 12 band S-XRS R7 and love it. i can do about 10 over and have plenty of time to slow down.

I have had a Escort Passport X50 since 2006 or 2007 and it's saved me countless amounts of times! I love it, I have a invsicord set up for it too so no cords dangling down on the dash. I am looking to get a blendmount eventually too

I have two friends with the new Escort 9500i and that is BADASS!!!!

the only problem with getting a radar detector is that it doesnt protect you from laser. once laser hits you, youre screwed. I have the escort 8500. it has been great to me havent gotten a "radar" speeding ticket since I got it. The valentine 1 is a step up from the escort but the only difference is how well the valentine picks up the "pop radar" but it carries a higher price tag. im currently looking to buy an escort 9500ix. the best thing about it is that is has GPS which means it can save false alarms(ex. automatic doors and what not) so that they dont go off again. in my opinion the best setup would be to get an escort(either 8500 or 9500ix) and a Blinder Extreme Laser Jammer. That will keep you totally covered.

I agree with the laser, even if your (my radar included) tells you, you've been popped by laser you're still screwed.

Honestly I don't know if I would buy another one if mine got stolen or broken :dunno:

Now if I had a fast truck/car that would be a whole nother thing

The best I have ever personally had any experience with was a Valentine One. Mike Valentine was the engineer behind the original Escort years back I believe. Unfortunately with modern pinpoint laser guns, if it goes off you are just being alerted about the ticket you are about to get. I understand they are still quite useful in areas that still use radar (wish they still did here!).

You should contact wonhunglo over on GMT. He seems to be very knowledgeable about detectors. He has posted some information about them. Worth a try.
