Had the terrible grind in the front last week and knew it was a hub going out as soon as I had it. Creeped to a local shop and put it on the lift and had plenty of slack so I creeped home and went and bought a new one and put it on this weekend. I couldn't get over 35 without a awful vibration, when I put the new one on everything feels fine until about 55 and it getting to vibrating again until I get up to about 65. Double checked it and no slack in the bearing a replaced or the other side, but still a vibration? I'm thinking the othe side is about to go out! Anybody heard of both sides going out at the same time? Seems so unlikely but there's definitely a howling whenever I turn hard on that side at speed. I'm at a loss. Sorry for the paragraph

Where they both original? If one goes out I usually replace both just so I don't get stranded.

Could your tire be out of balance? Maybe lost a weight..

Both hubs were original, I'm pretty sure the other one is going out, just couldn't believe they both did it at the same time. The tires shouldn't be unbalanced yet unless it slung a weight off I just got the new wheels put on maybe a month ago. I'm just going to keep an eye on it and when it starts getting slack ill throw a new one on. Just stay too busy to fool with it

Well popped the hood today to jump off a friend to find a vacuum line unhooked.. That very line went to the iwe solenoid which locks and unlocks the hubs. Put it back on and waalaa, no vibrations. I guess both hubs were locked which pretty much lead me to drive in 4wd (with out the pulling power) up to speeds of 75.. Causing the whole ordeal. I don't have any idea how long it's been off, I checked the iwe solenoid but just the out going vacuum lines not the incoming.. My dumb costly mistake

At least you found the problem, hopefully the hubs will be OK.You might take it to the dirt to see if everything still works
