What year did GM switch to the 17? (Penguin needs a newer SUV)

The Avy's share a frame, suspension, and brakes with the Suburban...so while 16s won't fit on a Silverado or Sierra they may fit on a Avalance. I don't know if the SUV 800s had brake changes at the same time the trucks did.

Edit: According to Tirerack 05 Avalances have rear disks

Tahoes, Escalades, Yukons, Avalanches and Burbans can all fit 16's up to 06. The 1500 trucks however started using 17's in 2005. From what I hear, 2005 was a split year too, there were a few 05's that still had 16's. Drums is really the changing factor. If it was a 2005 and had rear drums, then it had 17's. If it had rear discs, then it had 16's.
