What did you do to your truck today?

Tried to figure out a spot to mount 4 HID ballasts. There's no room! The engine bay is so crammed; especially compared to the Z71. Might try to mount them behind the bumper using some custom brackets.

Zip ties can be your friend when mounting ballasts.

No way I'd rely on zip-ties to hold them in place for that long.

How about behind the lights themselves? That's where Tahoe has them.

Thinking about doing what this guy did. HERE. They'd be protected from rain/snow/salt being tucked behind the bumper and I could have an extra metal plate to cover the top of them. Only downfall is that if I ever do get in an accident, they'd either be damaged or ruined.

I mounted mine with the metal brackets that came with them, AND I used big industrial zip ties like they use for HVAC and clothes dryer air ducts. AND they have double sided tape behind them.

Took the GF to dinner last night and breakfast this morning. Then filled it up. Got 17.4mpg.

Got one stuck, Drove one to lunch.

Stuck where/how?

Mud. Was turning around on a single lane gravel road. Front right went into a "puddle" in the ditch and it covered the whole tire and bumper. Couldn't get out in 4 or 4low, son and friend pushed it out because we didn't have another truck.

Mine didn't come with brackets (they're from DDM) and I've got less room than that behind my grill. I'm really missing all the room a full-size has. I might be able to fit 1 ballast behind the grill, but then I still need to fit another one somewhere.

I'm really liking the behind-the-bumper idea. I can have a friend make up a metal plate for me and then mount to that. I'll have to check it out more and see if it is do-able.

Actually, I sold my truck a couple of weeks ago....
Really hated to, but it has just been sitting in my driveway for a year... every since I retired...
Wasn't doing anyone any good sitting there... my brother needed another good truck, so I sold it to him...
At least I know it went to a good home.... He takes good care of his trucks...
