Does the G80 use a CLUTCH PACK????
Yes! But what I've seen not as many on the heavier versions as the 1/2 tons and they are metal not fiber.I should add this is for a 10 1/2 ring gear
I have a pic...

My thought was.. it may just be the governor not working... or the clutch plates could be worn.
It may not be too serious...:dunno:
That may be true...I might take mine apart soon and see if a spring is broken or the clutches are worn like you said..
here's another pic, looks different than the other one :dunno:

Number 17 in that pic....
I have heard of it going bad/sticking... and not letting the clutch packs engage when needed.
That don't happen often... but it can.
That's gonna be one of the things I'll be checking once I get mine apart.Might be simply a spring has broken :dunno:I'm assuming since the diff is already in and tolerances set I should be able to fix the prob and re-install it without any problems.

Correct... as long as you don't take the diff apart...
OH... when you take it apart... replace the thrust washers on each end of the clutch packs...

Yep,one of the websites said to do this, good call

I'll be doing all this after vacation, don't wanna risk screwing something up and not be able to use the Burb to tow my trailer up to Oregon in a couple of weeks.

Made plans for it's voyage.

Do you put your truck on the ferry when going to AK??

No we ship them on a container ship. I have done it quite few times, now. They do a great job. They put all the vehicles below deck, and strap them down. Containers are up top.

about what is the cost on that and how long does it take for the vehicle to GET THERE...
We are thinking of going up there...
But Kinda want to do the INSIDE PASSAGE thing one way...and then drive back home...
