aftermarket mercon V is not the same as fords mercon v.... fml
So, my $4000 tranny has the wrong fluid in it. Guess who's truck isnt getting driven until tuesday.

I have to agree with Bernie on this.
Do some independent checking on THAT...before just taking the dealers word on it.
If it is labeled MERCON V......it has to meet the Spec's for MERCON V...

High speed low drag.
Got the drive shaft on the 63 at the drive shaft place getting shortened balanced and new ujoints and a 400 yoke put on-should be able to get it today and get it on wheather permitting. And i just put on new rear tires on it the other day-was 235/60/15 on a 15x7rim and swicthed to 255/60/15 firehawks-going to get fronts next. Then the 63 will be ready for the first test drive after the engine and tranny install.

Do some independent checking on THAT...before just taking the dealers word on it.

And if the dealer is correct, and has the proof to back it up, then I'd be going after the company that sold the "fake" fluid and getting them to pay the cost.

Its not the dealer telling me that, its my tranny tech, who is making no money off it. Fords 4R100 was originally spec'd for mercon III. Fords Version of Mercon V is considered dual use and used in all trannies. Aftermarket Mercon V meets mercon V specs, but isnt considered dual use. the label claims it's good to go, but i'm not going to push the issue. All the dealership knows is that I want a tranny flush. they are a third party and not involved in any other capacity
