Those are the kind of police encounters I like.

Drove it to get a new multifunction switch. $150.99 +tax
:(
Damn Bernie...that's one expensive little part!! Sucks to hear that it broke on you. Was that for the one with cruise on it too?

Drove it to work to work 12hrs.:( On the bright side, my paycheck will be a little better because of it :).

I got my order from LMC Truck yesterday. Their chrome door handles are all metal (handle and bucket). The tailgate handle has a metal handle, but a plastic bucket. Oh well, they're still really nice! Also got a door seal for the 3rd door, a new lower valance, and the side marker lights that I originally wanted but couldn't justify paying $12 to ship one $50 item. -- I'll have to get some pics up of the handles and side markers.

Drove it, it's getting filthy from salt. Gotta look into the CEL on the tracer soon so the truck can go back into hibernation.

No, this is without cruise. Still, at that price, I only went "middle of the road".

NAPA wanted $318 for the genuine Delco part, and $179 for their own brand with a lifetime warranty. Advance Auto wanted $180 for it (not sure what brand) with a 1 year warranty, and several sellers on eBay had it for around $60 with shipping and anywhere from a 30 day to 1 year warranty.

Since I had to pay for it with the wife's credit card we decided to buy it locally at Auto Zone (also lifetime warranty). Turns out the brand is Wells, which I'm familiar with. Generally their stuff is pretty good. Not always up to OEM standards but decent.

Now comes the fun of installing it. Looking at the column I'm hoping I can just remove the plastic shroud around it, unscrew and unplug the switch, replace it and put the shroud back without having to tear half the dash apart or pull the wheel.

Wow, $318 for AC Delco . I shop at AutoZone a lot and so far I've had good luck with their stuff (knock on wood).

For what it is worth, I usually go on AC Delco's site and find a P/N first. Then I go to Amazon and/or AutoPartsWarehouse.com and see what their price is on it. I also check AutoZone to see what their brand is. I never go to NAPA unless I desperately have to because they are usually always more expensive than anyone else.

And yes Gary, I do love LMC!!! You just never know what brand you are actually buying.

Just washed the S10 at a self-serve wash (I never use automatic ones). There are 5 steps to it: spray soap, brush soap, rinse, wax spray, spot-free rinse (a very low pressure rinse). The damn brush didn't put out any soap and the wax didn't put out wax, just water from both of them :fume:. My dad also washed his car in a different bay than I used and it did the same thing to him. If it weren't for the fact that both of us bought $20 in tokens from this place, I'd drive another 5 minutes to a different wash for the same price.
