Changed the oil in the S10. 4.5qts of Valvoline High Mileage 10W30 (can't hurt it any; not with 172k). The plug is on the side of the pan (like my Silverado and I'm sure every other new truck). I was expecting it to go about a foot off to the side of the hole. Nope. It went 2 feet and missed my catch pan entirely. I did however get 3+ qts out of it (no idea how many miles). The filter though had 9/5/08 written on it so that was pretty old.
Also noticed that my power steering pump is leaking like a sieve. The entire front of the engine and anything else below it is completely caked in oil (which now after changing the oil, I know the front seal on the crank isn't bad).
Can a guy replace all the seals on a power steering pump himself without much trouble or special tools?
Oh, gotta get a new "Backup Light Switch". I have no reverse lights. It's only a $10 part anyways.
