Gonna call a Chevy dealer tomorrow about recalls and if I can get them for free yet (mostly to fix my possessed wipers which I'm pretty sure have a recall on them).

I have a massive fly problem on both my trucks. There are probably 150-200 flies on them. I can't use any sprays/pesticides due to dogs. So far the best thing has been these really sticky pieces of fancy tape. I caught about 50 today, but there are at least another 100+ to go. There's nothing on the ground for them to feed on (I hosed it off and they were back within 30 minutes; and swept up everything that I could). There's nothing on the trucks for them to feed on other than dust/dirt from dew every night.

:crybaby: Wow, I just realized how hard this winter will be not being able to, sorry, not wanting to, drive my Silverado (WI salt = major rust).......might have to be able to start it once a month and visit it every-other-week.

Wash regularly and park outside!
Park outside!?!? Then it will get snowed on, melt, refreeze, melt, and continue the un-ending vicious cycle until spring = moisture = rust!
I tried washing at least every-other-week last winter. I think it slowed the rust down a lot by keeping all the salt off.
There is a guy a few blocks away that is the 2nd owner of a '97 K1500 since like 40k mi. He washes every week. Still no rust...I envy him!

Parking a vehicle you've been driving in the salt inside a garage is the worst thing you can do for rust... If it's cold enough, salt doesn't work :jester:

Modified an old ball mount hitch to fit my shackle for towing. I run 8.5T shackles and a nylon strap for towing, this setup worked on all my old trucks but on my 08 dodge, my friends 10 F150 and my current 10 Chevy the holes in the hitch for the safety chains are too small to fit my shackles in. Had to ream out the hole on an old ball mount to fit the shackle pin through it so I had a way to connect my strap to the back end. Why are new trucks made so lame that they can't accept heavy duty equipment?

Nubuilder I see you're from WI, what's this mid winter melt you're talking about? I thought it was freeze, pray that it holds till spring, melt. I used to have a 97 that was in great shape until I really quit caring. I had pretty good luck if I put a couple coats of wax on in October or November to help protect everything (you know WI there's always that 1 day when it's 70 in November pick that day). Doing that each winter did wonders for keeping my old truck from rusting. Then I gave up and went 3 years without washing it and it was all down hill from there.
