Gave it a bath today. When I came back after an errand (buying my capacitor for my HIDs), I saw a puddle of fluid under where the rear diff. was. Stuck my finger in it...smelt it...GEAR FLUID!!!!!!! I'm hoping that because we almost hit 90 today that it was coming out of the breather. We'll see in the morning if there is any more.

Uh-oh... Even at 90 degrees that shouldn't happen.

Please don't tell me that :(.
Well, at least the axle seal isn't leaking :).
If it is just the cover, I don't have a problem taking that off and redoing it :dunno:.

Did you use a gasket when you put the cover back on?

Not much today, but I'll probably be running to town to pick up a capacitor for my HID's

Yes. I put liquid gasket (RTV or something like that; a black silicone like thing) between the cover and the gasket, and again between the gasket and the housing.

Did you maybe overfill it, or fill it on a slope?
The truck was only sitting at a 1" to 2" slope (from one side to the other). I don't think that should have made that big of a difference. I filled it until it came out the fill hole (which is what I thought you were supposed to do). I re-used the old fluid, don't know exactly how much, and added new fluid to top it off.

I'm gonna see what it does tomorrow.

It may just be a little overfilled. I always filled them to about 1/2" below the fill hole. Hopefully nothing major!

Was the new fluid the same as the old, with the proper additives (if needed)?
