What did you do to your truck today?

Spent half the day installing an Arrowstick (traffic director) on the back of the box, and getting the control box wired up under the controls for the lightbars and strobes. It's a pain in the ass running heavy cable to the top of that box, but at least I've now got some better warning/protection when I'm working in traffic or on the shoulder.

WOOT! Just found out my new tires will arrive tomorrow, so I can get 'em installed, head up the road to have the truck aligned and then all I'm waiting on is for my Bilsteins to arrive.

nice bernie what tires you get?

I've got a dually service truck that had almost new Wrangler HT's on it when I bought it used. Worst freaking tires I've ever had. I think they'd slide on a damp tissue. The "last straw" for me though was when the truck decided it was going to go down my driveway sideways because of a 1/4" of snow. Okay, the driveway has a 30 degree slope, and the truck was weighing about 7k at the time, but still...!

Anyway, I really wanted a set of the Wrangler DuraTracs for it, so I ordered a set through Tire Rack. Ran into some problems there though because they don't have an entry for my truck on the site (or didn't then) so I had to pick something close and the OEM size on that truck didn't match the size I ordered (which was the OEM size for my truck) so they held up the order for a day and a half. Instead of calling me they sent an email and I never read it because I thought it was just confirming the order. Anyway, finally got that resolved, and they offered me an apology and $50 off shipping.

In the meantime, I went looking for DuraTracs locally, but none of the local shops could get them in less than two-three weeks so I ended up getting a full set of BF Goodrich Commercial T/A Tractions (which had been my #2 choice) from Costco. I ordered them Thursday night and the tracking shows them scheduled for delivery tomorrow.

all that dont make sense with the oem.. i heard them BF g's are pretty good tires

That's what I thought, but TR says that if you order tires online (not over the phone) and the size you order doesn't match the OEM size for the vehicle you list then they hold the order until they can contact you and make sure you really meant to order that size. I can see it from their point of view, and it probably saves them some headaches, and prevents some mistakes, but unless they list all possible vehicles in their selection boxes then screwups like this will happen.

Supposedly, from what their rep told me, the problem was reported to the head of their IT department and he promised to put someone on it and get it fixed ASAP. (In my case the problem is that they have no selection at all for 1999 GMC dualies, and only one selection for any 3500 series, and that's a van which uses a different size)

The problem with that is twofold. First, I had reported this problem to them a year ago, and been told then that it was being passed on to IT and a fix would be made ASAP. Second, as of ten minutes ago I still don't see a fix in their selection choices.

That's a shame, because TireRack has always been OK in my book. We bought the General Grabber AT2's for my g/f's pickup from them three years ago (come to think of it, those were non-OEM sizes and they never contacted us about it - just shipped them) and had no problems with them at all.
