At least it's only one belt.My old '77 GMC had three or four IIRC :(

 I remember those years.

I'm guessing our younger members don't remember having more than one belt :dunno:

Yeah...when the crankshaft pulley had 4 or 5 grooves in it.

they will never know the joy of having to take loose everything on the front of the engine to change the "BACK BELT".

And then having to put it all back together again.

:rollin:

Those were the days my friend, I thought they'd never end.

And at least...you could "GET TO" the stuff to take it loose and put it back together.
Not like now...where there is so much crap crammed under the hood it is hard to work on them.

Driving out in West Texas one summer...hotter than hell...broke the little water pump belt.

I was "MILES" from anywhere to get one and on a road with almost -0- traffic.

Finally took a rawhide lacing from my military combat boot...tied it together around the crankshaft pulley and the water pump pulley... and made it to the next town. :)

Sometimes you just have to "MAKE DO" with what you have to work with.

Yup, and if it started raining while you were working on it there was usually enough room that you could sit under the hood and keep working.

Yep.. sho nuff...

I am not very tall, and I could sit on the inner fender well with one foot on the frame, down beside the exhaust and the other foot on the front crossmember under the radiator.

Alas...not any more... :(
