Had the fuel filter replaced and washed off the salt.

I provided the filter and they charged me $43 to change it. I told them that I just had the other truck done last year (3/19/10 to be exact) and it cost $16. They told me they billed me based on the Mitchel system (whatever that is). The system knows the type of work being done and charges accordingly. They said that ones that are bolted to the lines cost more to replace than the ones that are clipped in. This is :bs:. Can't do anything about it now since its already done. I thought I'd give some business to the only shop on the island here, but I guess next time I'll have to call around.

So we'll see if the filter has any affect on the idle (I'm betting not, but I hope it does).

Matt, why didn't you just change it yourself?

That's what I was wondering too?? :dunno:
I'm not so good when it comes to lines/hoses....especially on older, rusty vehicles. I had the shop do it on both trucks for peace of mind (I was perfectly happy with paying $16, not $43), and if something did get broken, they would be able to fix it (I have no line cutting/fittings tools). Now that it has been done though, I'll change the Silverado's myself and more regularly to avoid the nuts seizing to the lines or filter.
