No, that's not a banana in my pants.
Just got back from New Orleans. The ole Suburban is still an awesome road trip vehicle. We actually have a 2015 Altima rental car that sat in the driveway for the last 5 days while we were gone. It sure was tempting to take the rental, but I MUCH prefer the extra room in my Suburban when traveling.
And the reason we have a rental car right now is because the damn Nissan dealership wrecked my wife's car while it was in for some warranty repairs. They claim that there's a recall on the hood latch, and the hood just so happened to fly up while they were test driving it. In my opinion, the dumbass just forgot to close the hood before test driving it. Regardless, they are responsible for repairing the body damage. That damn car is an accident magnet, I swear! Its already had 3 (yes THREE!!) accidents, and all three were due to other drivers who hit her. So now this is the FOURTH time in 3 years that this damn car is in the body shop!

The car is currently worth 19k, and we still owe almost 17k on it. Even if they offered us exactly what is owed on it, we would STILL lose all the money we have paid on it since 2014. Even if we were to downgrade and buy a much cheaper vehicle, they would roll that negative equity into the price of the new car. And no way in hell am I willing to pay a much higher monthly payment for much less car. Not to mention that I would be starting completely over and have another 6 years of payments. If I just pay this one off, its paid off in 3 years. I have posted it for sale privately, but only had three people even seem remotely interested, and all backed out when they found out about the accident history.
