Yep. That's why mine will stay in 2wd unless I need 4wd. No auto for me.

The ONLY time I use Auto-4WD is in slick conditions. A guy at work said he leaves his in Auto all the time. I "suggested" that he shouldn't do that, but he wouldn't listen.. :dunno:

Our Tahoe spent at least half of its 100k miles in Auto while we had it. I changed the Tcase to Allison Transynd ATF at 20K and changed it annually. Never had a single issue other than the switch in the dash and the programming for it

If it was wet and slick more down here, I'd probably use it more. I've inadvertently left it in Auto-4WD (in dry conditions) and it would occasionally feel like something was binding up a bit. So, I try to make sure it's in 2WD unless the situation otherwise warrants it.

Dat bish's ass-end gets sketchy when the roads get wet, though. So, I'll hit Auto-4WD for that.

Oh for sure
My post was 6 plus months of winter based, with the wife driving. I am fairly certain there were summers spent with it in Auto

Yeah, if I was in AK, WA, or OR, I'd probably spend a lot more time in Auto-4WD (or get something with AWD).

Smelled burning oil from it after beating a Dodge in a race...

Oh man...
Hopefully it was just my power steering/hydraulic fluid spraying onto the manifold.... Haven't spent much time over 75 - 80 MPH in awhile, lol

Spent some time trying to figure out what it will cost to fix the roof and windshield...basketball goal fell and hit it in the 70+ mph winds last night.

T-case module punted the truck into neutral.. I hope. That's a cheap fix, lol.

It's that or the TCM is gooched.... But I can still select my gears and such... Just can't move, and the t-case controls are dark, lol
