Good on fuel is not exactly how I would describe a Subaru, exactly due to the AWD, and for the longitudinally-mounted engine. The Corolla, even with an archaic 4-speed automatic tranny, is pretty good.

Thanks... Been on the net all morning .... couple subarus in the area, but gas mileage is not quite where I want to be. Any way you look at it I'm going from 9mpg to 20 +

A few prospects in my cheap ass price range... gonna hit the car lots Friday I think while everyone else is at the stores .. If my Ranger was better in snow, I'd just fix that up instead.

Sold it as my wife and I spend a shit load of $$ on gas each month.

You all think the car lots would be empty friday? I'm wondering if it would be dead on the lots and I might be able to swing a better deal.

Not sure being around a holiday, but then it is close to the end of the month and end of the year, but that might only mean good deals for new vehicles and not used.
