Wanted: Buy or Borrow AT&T Android Phone

Long story short my wife and I ended up being one of the unlucky original HTC One X purchasers with the flawed screen (a random band of the screen loses touch capability and makes the phone do funky things).

She's not eligible for upgrade until May so I'm looking for an interim solution. Honestly I'd like to just buy an S4 Active at no commitment pricing .... but money's TIGHT right now because she doesn't get paid during the summer and the gov't furlough kicked my ass.

We have our old Captivate that she can use... but with the 3 kids she's always snapping pictures so im hoping someone has a newer phone they'd be willing to let me buy or borrow until I can swing the $$ for the S4a.

I honestly have nothing against Apple but would like to keep Android since it's what we're used to and comfortable with.

Yup.. there are plenty of used phones out there. I'm a little leery of spending $200 for a used phone from someone I dont know though, and then 6 months later spending $250 for the S4 upgrade.... thats $450- for less than $200 more i can just buy a brand new S4 now with no commitment and be good to go.

So i'm checking with "trusted" channels first. Borrowing or buying from someone I 'know' is preferred.

People upgrade phones all the time. Hell there's got to be a Skyrocket sitting in someones desk that they can loan us (those are $200 on ebay )

My wife is a manager at AT&T and she was given the Moto X last week and we have no use for it. Brand new, never used, still in the box. Not sure what you're looking to spend, but after messing around with a demo of the S4 & the Moto X, I actually like the Moto better.

I was planning on stopping at my local ATT store on my way home from work today. I believe those guys make comission so they may be more willing to sell me a phone with a few bucks off rather than ordering directly from ATT/Amazon/Etc. Figured it's worth a shot.

No card slots. Or at least I don't recall seeing any. The phone is a 16GB, couldn't tell, but after checking the model number is shows to be 16Gb.

As far as the discount on the S4a, not sure. She manages setting up new stores, kiosks etc. She doesn't actually work at an AT&T store. Apple is the only company I know for sure that doesn't give them any break on pricing. Samsung may, not sure, but I'll check.

Matt I have been following the moto x for a while and it seems to be a great phone. I know the internal storage only sucks but you can always use cloud services if needed.

A lot of the phones these days don't have card slots. I bemoaned this on TMC a few months ago and got my shit jumped.

On a related note, I LOVE my S4. Verizon though, so I'm not much help to the OP
