Not needed for power, just filtration. And reliability, lol. The CP4 needs a lift pump for filtration and starvation issues. That's why Ford has less issues with the CP4. Factory lift pump reduces the chances of injection pump contamination.

My truck isn't oversized.

I certainly am not compensating, but I do hope my engine lasts longer. I don't wish to buy a new one ever again.

Truck size doesn't really matter. Some gas-station cowboys would try it even with a small coupé-utility like those ones very popular in my country, instead of a similar-size sedan or station wagon
