The Ford sales lady (smokin hot too) winked and hinted the upcoming Scorpion engine might be worth the wait.

A friend o mine is a farmer and also runs a tree service, he bleeds GM, but he bought a Dodge truck, his father own a GM truck and the Dodge out preforms. I bought a GMC with the 8.1L just because of my life style and pulling habits, or I would of bought a Dodge

You don't have a thing to worry about w/ the new 68 trans.

Yeah the 48re that was in the 3rd gens was a bit weak for the CTD (Not like I've baked a torque converter or burned out the rear clutch pack or anything

)

But the new ones are rock freaking solid. They are a full six speed which really helps with towing and MPG's.

The 6.7's are now in the 3rd full year of production. In 08 a change was made to the turbo and ERG systems that really reduced the number of issues with it. The ECM loads help a ton too.

That being said the 6.7 needs to be used! If you just grab groceries with it and don't load it down you will have DPF / EGR / VGT issues.

Also a thing to know is that the 6.7's have a new flash versions (not sure exactly which version) there is a bootloader software put on the ECM.

This will apparently make electronic programmers kill the ECM. :paranoid:

Yeah Dodge is playing uber big-brother on this one.

As for the AAM axles ... not a worry there either. You can get almost any aftermarket part for them now. Including free-spin hubs and all that.

The trucks are rock solid and ooh soo pretty toooo

My thinking is always stay away from the ford because of past problems that they had with the 6L and the newer 6.7...

I would have to lean towards the Cummins IMO... I also read that if you buy it cab only that the transmission will be an upgrade opposed to if you would have bought a dually or service body. This reason being say that you wanted it equipped for a dump bed... The transmission would need to be more heavy duty with heavier loud capacities with the intentions on pulling, ect.
If the transmission is still being built by mercedes it can be problematic. I have buds with rebuilds a couple times before 100k...

Now that I am thinking of it you should also check out Sterling. They make 1 ton and up trucks that kinda look like a dodge and they may be affiliated.. The sterling is supposed to be a better truck all the way around..

My neighbor that has the green F350 was disappointed in the front axles from ford.. He would have rather had independent suspension in the front with the money that he has had into it...
He bought a 2007 Cummins 3500 crew cab dually LB.. I was surprised when he told me that he was having troubles with it... I think it has less than 20k miles.

i leand twards the cummins two,but after what you said, the alison+duramax combo is always a good choice

I have yet to hear anyone complain about the front end in the NNBS trucks...

I had no end of complaints from the oilfield guys about the '06 and older stuff... But nothing from '07 and up :dunno:
