Tonite im putting the lifters in the engine(that have been soaking) let them coat the cam and bleed down some-with the balancer at 0 number 6 up-timing marks cam at 6 and crank at 12-then do both valves at number 6 then rotate engine 90 degrees follow the firing order from 6 til im back at 6-then rotate back to 1 then follow the above video-so i can tell when valves are opening and closing-be doing this part sunday so lifters have time to bleed down some. Any input?Don't wanna do this a third time.

Engine back in Nova and ready to fire up-be sunday! Ran the valves-cam gear at 6 crank gear at 12-number 6 piston up balancer at 0 and suppose to be the one firing-set both valves-turn balancer 90 degrees then did next one in firing order...Had two builders tell me this is what/how they do it.Makes sense because on my fluid damper(balancer) has timing marks that allow me to know which piston is up and the cam for sure has to be in a good spot because both valves are closed.I had set all of them at 0 lash then went back a few days later and double checked 0 lash then did a half a turn-doing it the same way as before.

I did presoak the lifters for like 3 days-i did not pump them up once installed-i had set everything at 0 lash then a few days later went back and double checked 0 lash and did the half turn-i did not notice that the lifters bleed down though i soaked them and let them set in engine with 0 lash a few days. My builder did fix that lifter bore(3 exhaust). I almost hate to start it up cause im hoping for no issues-id hate to have to yank it out again the third time.
