From everyone I have talked to around here, and mind you I mow commercially 170 acres a week, no one has very many good things to say about those. Actually no one talks about them, because they just aren't up to par with other mowers. You may have good luck with it and I hope you do. It just wouldn't be in my choice list for mowers.

We do run 2 John Deere's and a Toro. The toro has a 10' deck, it was about $55,000.00 new 3 years ago. The John Deere we bought last year has a 100" deck and it was right around $32,000.00 and the year before that we bought the John Deere 997 with a 72" deck and we paid around $13,000.00 for it. That's with government discounts though.

I guess I just generally think of Snapper's as residential mowers. I don't see any commercial outfits running them. Maybe you're on to something new though. :dunno:

Like I mentioned in my OP a couple nationwide local branches like True Green and Valley crest started running them over the past few years.

We have mostly John Deere but have also had HUstler, Toro and Scaggs(when we lived in Ohio).

A couple features that might raise the bar for other brands are the dual reservoir for each hydraulic pump to avoid contamination and I'd imagine it will lengthen oil quality and longevity. It also features a oil cooler for the engine. I remember having problem with oil in Kawasaki engines with over heating with SAE 30w oil. I'd like to think a oil cooler would be AB advantage as well as using the proper weighted oil too.

It has a 28hp 810cc Briggs motor. The deck is thicker than the John Deere and the deck height adjustment is rather nice. When the deck is raised, you place the pin in the desired height slot. Press the petal and it automatically goes to the selected height.

We will see how it goes.
