Another vote for finding a stock ride. I've been in the car business a LONG time. Modified rigs are trouble more often than not.

I say at least go have a look at it,drive it,inspect the front suspension & steering parts well.If a lift has been installed by a reputable shop & is a well engineered system I say give a chance.I bought my burb with 202,000 miles on the clock with a 6'' lift on it and have had no probs with it.There was one ''popping'' noise I chased for a while but after tightening all nuts & bolts on the lift brackets it went away.

While driving it(if you do)take your hands off the wheel and see how it tracks, take it on a freeway and get it up to 65-70 and see how it tracks.Hit the brakes hard and see how it stops, check for pulling left or right.

Even when pulling the trailer the burb tracks straight,I can take my hands off the wheel and it will still go straight even though the trailer loaded is 8,000lbs +.

Maybe my burb being a 3/4 has something to do with it I'm not sure :dunno:

BTW,that's a nice truck

One more thing....we'll be going to the desert this weekend for our annual campout/dirtbike riding trek to California City with said trailer in tow

Another vote for stock and Ford. My 2005 f150 has 212k the only issues have been the trans, probably because of my driving. Other than that my only other issues have been because of my modifications. My next truck will be stock except for being bagged.

Well I went and drove 3 trucks today, one of which was the avalanche Kenny posted. I really liked the avalanche, but we couldn't agree on pricing. Other two trucks I drove were both 2003 silverado's. One drove really well but the undercarage was extremely rusty, and the other was a clean truck just had a lot of noises up front in the steering. I am going to go look at an 04' Monday - 2004 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 - Used Truck Noblesville IN | Westfield Motor Sales

There are a lot of them out there. You'll find the right one.
