Performed some maintenance and a couple upgrades over the last few days.

This weekend I went to Ardmore to use my dads shop and finally replaced the front brakes on my 2007 Silverado. I also greased the slip yolk on my drive shaft along with replacing the rear shocks. I then pulled the GM 6 inch steps off with plans on installing my new Amp Research retractable steps. More on that later.

First, the drive shaft. I did not realize how smooth my truck could be. The down shifts and take offs are so much better now. If you have a GM I highly recommend this. It takes about 30 minutes if you have to crawl under it or about 10 minutes if you have a lift.

Next, the front brakes. I pulled off the front rotors and replaced them with SSBC rotors I got from :bbp: This was extremely easy. The only problem I ran into was a part number issue. Just sent me a set of pads that did not fit. I found out it was not his fault. I went to O'riellys and gave them my info, they came back with the same pad. I don't know if it was a production date issue or what, but my front pads are the pads that go with a truck that has rear drums. I don't have rear drums though.

I also stuck the rear Bilsteins on my truck. I had the fronts, but no spring compressor for the struts. That was a no go. I had them installed today for a $100 bucks.

Finally, we removed my (Matt's now) GM 6 inch steps. Again, the original plan was to stick the Amp Research steps back on. I ran out of time. Those things take for ever to install. I also paid to have them installed at the place that did the struts. They are certified installers for Amp and it took them 4 1/2 hours. I am very pleased with the results though.

Interesting that there was a part issue with the brakes. I thought I was the only one that ran into crap like that.
