I'm not really feeling the whole 4-wide schtuff either. The first couple times it was cool, but it just feels a little gimicky. I like heads-up, one-on-one drag racing.
Well. It's a show for sure, but to me a lot of the drama in top class drag racing is the two up style of racing. One guy against the rival... then moving up to the next round or parking it. I like that better. 4 up just becomes running against the clock.
