So, it my latest flash of stupidity, I have decided to at least consider driving to Alaska when I relocate here in the next month or so. I can load my 3 ton tool box on the car trailer with the 2 dirt bikes. This will actually be cheaper than barging the truck, and the tool box.

If I do this, I really want new tires. The Duratracs are great, but they aren't perfect on highway trips, if you know what I mean. Also, mud tires have proven to suck on the ice up there. I have tried it.

I am looking at the Michelin LTX A/T2

Discount said they will give me trade on my tires, not sure what that will amount to so I will likely sell them. They are 75+ percent.

Thoughts? I am leaning to the Michelin, but I really like that Kelly!

The Toyos and Kellys look very similar, I like. No experience on any of them though. :dunno:

I have heard good things about the Michelins. Father in law has the same tire on his Tahoe. Not sure though but I know the are Michelins and he really likes them.

When in doubt... I usually go Michelin...
They seem to put a lot of engineering in their tires so that they will do what they say they will... :dunno:

Just my opinion...

Michelin is what I was going to get, without even looking. But, I decided to browse around, and see what else was out there. I also looked at the Commercial T/A, it now comes in 275/70/18

Read up on the LTXs:
''The LTX A/T2 is Michelin's On-/Off-Road All-Terrain light truck tire developed to meet the needs of today's recreational and commercial pickup, van and SUV drivers. The LTX A/T2 was designed to provide even wear, low noise and good fuel efficiency, even in demanding commercial applications while delivering the year-round traction and durability expected from rugged off-road tires without forsaking the on-road comfort and handling expected of a Michelin tire.

The LTX A/T2 features an advanced light truck tread rubber compound molded into an independent tread block tread design featuring Michelin Biting Edges (notched blocks in the tread pattern) that enhance traction on dirt, mud, gravel, wet grass and snow. Michelin's Advanced MaxTouch Construction results in a unique tire footprint shape that allows for long-lasting, even treadwear while their Comfort Control Technology uses computer-optimized design and precision manufacturing to reduce vibrations and road noise to deliver a comfortable ride. The tire's internal structure includes two steel belts (Load Range D and Load Range E sizes add a third steel belt) to enhance durability and tread puncture resistance.''

Michelin LTX A/T2 without a doubt I run them on the ice we get here and they are amazing. I dont have any experience with the other tires but I really like my Michelin's they do better than most of my friends winter tires... I run them for my winter tires and have no regrets about it.
