Just chalk test them...

Put some chalk over the tread of the tires and roll the truck forward. You will see how well the tires are contacting the ground. Start at a low psi and air up by 5 psi increments until the whole tread is contacting the pavement.

You only want to run max sidewall pressure if you are carrying an extremely heavy load. E rated tires are rated to carry a lot. I ran 38-40 in my BFGs and they wore evenly and lasted a long time. Pay little attention to the door sticker. It's a recommendation based on the OEM tires - plus 35 is really soft for E rated tires.

I got the E rated because most of the 305/55/20 in an all terrain tire are an E rated tire. I guess because of the shorter sidewall? i dunno.

But thats what most were offered in...

Gotcha. I ran into that when I was shopping for 20s as well for my 1500.

i got the front at 40 and the rear at 39, so far im happy.

Had some heavy rain tonight and these tires were flawless, barely even feel the puddles, just hear them shred through it and watch the water fly in the mirror lol

Another one for 60lbs in all four of the tires on my truck. I'm running E rated 10 ply tires as well.

I forgot to mention that I'm running LT 245/75/16 General Grabber AT2.

Go by the tire, not the door.

You bought 10 plies, not sure why, but you need to run the higher pressure for tread life. I have learned the hard way, running 35-40 in 10 ply tires. The edges wear faster, and will cup.

I run 60 in my 10 plies when unloaded.

Just personal experience, I am not throwing this out there to be flamed. All of my 10 plies have been on heavier, 2500s. I have never gone over a D rated tire on ligther trucks because they are heavy as hell and not needed. I like P tires on my half tons.

In my experience for the price it is better to get the E rated tire over D even in a half ton... Especially since my z71 pulled a lot of weight. I once went through some BFGs A/T in 15-20k miles as opposed the the E tires were on the truck when I sold it after 60k miles and 20% tread life left.

I run 45 in my E rated tires, but I have a lot more sidewall than you. They felt like they rolled a little at 40. So far tread wear is even with 27k miles on them.
