Wife just called and she has a flat. I knew the tires were getting bad because the tread was low and the sidewalls were dry rotting. What should I put on the car next? I don't want to spend a fortune though. Current size is 225/50/17 on a Pontiac G6 GT.

I bought Sumitumo HTR tires for my wife's Altima from Tirerack. I mainly chose that tire because of its low price. It had good reviews, and that sealed the deal. My only complaints are that they have somewhat poor traction in rain, and the tread seems to be wearing pretty fast. I have already had to replace two of them by the time they were two years old. They arejust now 3 years oldI and ithe had to replace another because my wife got a flat and it was unrepairable. I might as well buy one more because that 4th tire is almost worn down. Then I will have two new tires and two year old tires. But overall I am satisfied considering I paid less than $300 for 4 tires. They have gone up in price, the one I just bought last week was $90. They were originally $70.

I would recommend the Michelin Primacy ......
they are quiet running tires... last forever, grip well and are good in the rain.

Little more than I am wanting to spend.

I know they are kinda pricey... but...
There are only 4 little spots of rubber, the size of the palm of your hand, between her and the road....
The Michelin will last a really long time without needing to be replaced... maybe as much as 60,000 miles or more.

I always put GOOD TIRES on my vehicles....

I seem to have a lot less tire trouble ... flats and early wearing out... when I do...
I am currently running "V" rated, Yokohama ADVAN S4 on the Cadillac... the only reason it don't have Michelin on it, is they are / were not available in my size.
