Time for a new battery

I have read and talked to a few that have an Odyssey Battery and love them. Last a long time and take a beating.

My next battery will be one. I have the Optima Red top and if I don't drive my truck for two weeks it goes down enough that it will not start. Not pleased with Optima at all.

really? i had one in my nova... shifter cable broke and it sat for 1 1/2 months.. just never got around to fixin it.. fired right up first crank

Yea and the impala has a yellow top and it it sits for more than a month it also goes down. I just don't have luck with them. I had a Diehard in the impala for over 7yrs and it would last for months without being started. Just figured an Optima was going one step better. Guess not.

I have had many Optimas, and the Exide Spiral core, and they are great in cold weather, Alaska was hard on batteries.

That being said, the better of the lead/acid batteries I have used is Interstate. I also purchased the Autolite Platinum battery for 2 of my Chevys, and you can get them at Schucks/Checker/Kragen or Advance Auto. I bet the Autolite would serve you well.

My Delcos typically go a long way, but I am rarely in front of a dealer when one shits the bed, and I am in need of a battery.

Die Hard, and many of the box store brands of batteries that are sold to them by GNB (I think) have never given me good service.

I just bought a sears Diehard Platinum, but then decided to bring it back. It claims to have the same spiral design gel cell like an optima. It has a 4 year replacement warranty, but after I bought it I read some bad reviews about it online. Seems the main problem is a design flaw. In a side post applicattion, the side post terminal isn't actually part of the battery. Its a plastic coated "bar" that actually runs down the outside of the battery, from the top posts. Of all the reviews I've read, some were good, but every negative review said the same thing about the post breaking. I dont wanna be stuck somewhere because the post breaks off my battery. I dont care if they will warranty it 100 times in the 4 years, I dont want the inconvenience of HAVING to get it replaced. Look at how the posts are designed, I think it would be a pretty good battery if the posts were simply designed better.

I thought Auitolite Platinum was a spark plug? Do you mean Autocraft Titanium? Thats what they sell at Advance auto parts here. I was actually considering that battery. Tobias says he uses them, plus the one in my truck now is an Autocraft Silver which has given me just over 3 years of reliable service. I found one on their site for $90 with 800 cold cranking amps, I may get that one.

Funny thing is... I see loads of red and yellow tops in all of the drag cars here. Hell, it's hard to find one that doesn't have an Optima.

yeah they are in ALL the race cars and mud trucks down here too. Ive seen some lately using these batteries.. cause of weight. but they cost a ton.

LOL yeah they do make plugs as well. Shuck's also used to sell the battery, seriously.

I have had pretty good luck with Wal Mart and SAMS batteries.
I always look around and get the biggest size with the highest CCA I can find that will fit in the battery box.

I have never failed to get at least three years from one of them.
And they are usually only 100 bucks or less.
