I don't know how heavy your boat is but Earl pulls trailers with bobcats just fine with 3.42 gearing.

Not going to worry about the 3.42's as it will tow fine the little amount I do.
It does have an aux trans cooler, so that is good.
I just heard from him, his buddy is still undecided, but he said he is not going to wait for him any more. He is working on fixing the non-functioning heated seats as we speak.

As long as he doesn't try to tow for thousands of miles that way, and has a good brake controller, it'll be fine.

It actually does have an aftermarket brake controller on it. The PO put one on recently as he just purchased a 4-place enclosed snowmobile trailer. Then decided to buy a new truck.
To be honest, I am not even sure how these brake controllers work? Do they work with hydraulic surge brakes or do you need electric brakes on the trailer? My boat only has hyd surge brakes, which seem to work very well.
