They just don't make trucks like they used to.

I'm not talking about pulling something...because an SUV can do that.

I am talking about trucks being used as DD by people.....and the day-in, day-out tasks...taking the kids to school, going to the store, getting the dig de-wormed, hauling kkids to sleep overs, going on vacation, etc.

That's my point, my truck can do everything you listed AND pull my boat. It can also haul a helluva lot more than an SUV.

The only thing a Suburban can't haul that your truck can is something really tall in the back :dunno:

Yeah, but I can haul a helluva lot more, even with the 5'9" bed. I can also haul dirt, mulch, rock etc and hose it out in about 2 minutes when I am done. I'd like to see a bobcat dump in a 1/2 yard of mulch into the back of a Suburban.

I wonder how GM solved this debate :dunno:

Oh wait :fail:

Park it on a downhill slope LOL LOL LOL. Give me a crew cab Long bed any day over any SUV. Half tons are more grocery getters anymore or they serve soccer moms. The only other purpose they have is soccer moms who refuse to have a minivan and there are alot of those out there. But to the poster that has had vehicles with 120K but not 200K......200K is getting to be the norm for me. Two of my trucks in the past have had way over 200K when I sold them. Last dually 567K and the 1/2 ton before it 328K. Current truck 168K and counting. 100K is considered barely broken in......in my opinion that is.

I remmber a guy telling me the 73-87 gm and fords wern`t so tough either.

Agree'd... you beat the piss out of something, it will always break..

It's the difference in Breaking track to replace pads, or cruising on back to the armory to have the mechanics do it.. Take more time, and they hold up just fine with maintinence.

Telling me a 1 ton 80 scottsdale is tougher, might be, but the Ujoints and common parts still rip out of them, we have 3 different scottsdales / blazers out on the farm.

More power = more stupidity = more breakage.. thats the common abuse with the current trucks.

Well the damage on his work truck wasn't as bad as I thought it'd be. I figured "fix what's wrong" on a company truck with a company credit card would yield a huge list of things they found wrong. They only replaced the brakes, belt, and fuel filter (I guess Ford hasn't moved theirs to inside the tank yet?)
