Thermostat

The other day i noticed the temp gauge on my 07 silverado with the 6.0 was reading just under 160 degrees. This was after it running for an hour. it usually runs just under 210

And as soon as i noticed this it started to start kinda weird. it would turn over and then kind of labor and then kick over and idle fine.


Are these problems related?

Most likely related. Sounds like your Tstat is sticking open. They are designed for rapid warm up, you should have it checked, or replace the Tstat if you have the means

If the water pump is the same that is on my '01, that t-stat will set you back around $30. You have to buy the whole housing.

It amazing what a stuck open T stat can do on these newer vehicles. Our old 08 Acadia would start up and then go into limp mode with service stabilitrac light on and engine overheat. Which was odd since it was just started and the engine wasn't hot. But I guess the coolant temp didn't change like it should have with working T stat. Changed out the thermostat and all was well.

No i think i can just replace the thermostat and not the whole housing

Actually the 07 Classic Thermostat is different than the 06 thermostat.

Anybody know if the 06 would fit a classic, since the 06 one is only $12 and the classic is $30

I can't say for sure, i didn't think the 07 classic had a different series engine but I don't know everything either.

This is the first thing that ive found that was different besides a different wiring harness and fuse locations. Usually when im looking for parts i tell them its an 06 since most sites recognize 07 as only the new body style
