Well... I do see a lot of "over-maintenance" done to vehicles. I think a lot of the so called maintenance we are urged to perform is based on making part resellers money. Some of it just makes us feel better about our vehicle, even if the "repair" was not needed.

Good job. Glad it went smooth!

I've never changed a fuel filter on any vehicle I have owned. The Explorer I just retired had 218K on the original filter. I've literally never had any issue.

2 Times I have been left stranded, so I do it once a year now.

Once, I got towed in from the Interstate in my '91. The bill was $500, and I couldn't understand why warranty wouldn't pay for it :lol:

The filter had 30K on it.

Well obviously the filter should have been changed in the Explorer at 218K. Otherwise, I think it has a lot to do with where you buy fuel. I only buy from high volume name brand stations. I never stop at the mom and pop small places...
