After a year of being broke down, I finally pulled my 2006 Silverado into my own garage and started to take it apart to fix.
A little ancient history: November 2012, developed a misfire on cylinder #6. A little investigating and found low compression in that cylinder compared with others.
This was my little tow pig that I pulled my 6 x 10 trailer with making shows all over the Houston area with this fWONking Adam's Polish bullshit.
I am always pressed for time, so I didn't really have the time to mess with the truck. I went and bought the 2012 Superduty and towed the hell out of the trailer for a year. Finally decided I needed to get the Silvy fixed and out of my hair for good.
So I have pulled the heads and found that the #6 intake valve wasn't sealing worth a crap. Why? Who knows, who cares!
For the record, I miss my shop! Working in a packed up 2 car garage is for the birds. Pics
For having almost 140K miles, the cylinders look pretty good. You can still see the cross hatch and there is zero ridge in the liners.
All new parts ordered from GM, which cost more than aftermarket.
But they are the best parts.
