Behind the handle and bezel, there are rods that attach to the handle. The rods are held on with cheap plastic clips. On my father in laws truck, the plastic clips broke, but he was having the same symptoms you're having just before they broke. I replaced the clips for him and lubed everything up and it's been fine ever since. That Was over 3 years ago. :dunno:

I adjusted the catch pins and the latches themselves. It seems to work for now.
