Summit LS Block

Has anyone or know anyone that has purchased one of these LS iron blocks from Summit?

I have been sourcing out a block or engine pull out for several months now and either the block is too far away from me, too expensive, or just trashed. This one is already bored out .030, which is what I need for my 408 build and its only $675. This is close to the prices I can find for lower end used blocks. I am assuming some minor honing and prep and I can slap int the rotating assembly.

I cannot speak of the LS block. But I have had friends who bought other Summit blocks and said good things about them.

I would personally do something along the lines or getting a pre-assembled short block like this.

I haven't ever been a huge Summit customer but people I know have spent zillions with them and Jegs with great success. I don't think they would sell junk for a quick profit. Too many racers depend on them.

Just don't have the funds for it.




I'm not saying it junk or Summit sells junk. I was curious because the block is already bored out. One step I don't have to get a machine shop to do. All it seems that I would have to do it a slight hone job and slap in a rotating assemble, check clearances and go. I can buy parts in phases(ie when funds are available), but if it comes down to it, I just might have to save and get the TSP short block.
