Why buy new when you can restore?
Here's what I do....
-place tarp on ground
-run Sta-Bil and make sure it gets to the engine, not just the tank
-treat the entire tank with Sta-Bil
-fill the tank up (leaving a little room for expansion in the spring)
-change oil
-remove battery (put it on a maintainer once in a while, but not all the time)
-cover (obviously, I wash it right before storing it)
This is done in a garage with a concrete floor.
I don't worry about jack stands. I didn't last year and didn't have any problems at all with flat spots or vibrations going down the road.
And I would totally pull the wheels since you're in a garge that is being used by other winter vehicles (mine is all alone with my motorcycle; no other vehicles).
My cover is nothing fancy. I think I paid $30 for it at Menards last year. It does the job, but definitely isn't intended for outside use.
