Difference is, i bet you don't go around trying to convince people how "safe" your motorcycle is like most "smart" owners do :frustration:

It's almost as bad as prius owners bragging about how good they are for the environment or ridgeline owners bragging about how capable their truck is.

I've never seen Smart owners bragging about its safety being above average, altough it's not so bad for its size. What I see are some old bitches who buy them because they're easy to park on tight spots, and are not so targetted by kidnappers or thieves.

All 3 smart owners i know brag about how they're the safest vehicles on the road.

A guy at work that was considering buying one was raving about the safety ratings.

One of my friends sons was considering buying one and also tried convincing me that they're safer than my Sierra (that i had at the time).

Maybe you just don't talk to enough smart car owners :dunno:

You should keep a link of the YouTube video of the IIHS crashing a SMART car into a C class. I'd post a link but I'm on my phone, just search YouTube for smart car vs c class. It flies into the air and does a 180. It does have a very strong cage around the driver but there's very little energy absorption meaning the occupant's body takes a huge hit. A small car with good crash ratings will still lose against a full size truck with marginal ratings, no getting around laws of physics.

Absolutely. It might have a good rating for its class, but it doesn't mean it's the safest car ever. At least not safer than a Volvo :jester:
