GM trying to save the brand that is slowly killing them. Low sales have killed Saturn, Hummer, Olds, and Saab and it is only a matter of time before they finally have to give Buick the axe. Once the baby boomers stop buying them this brand is dead.
Buick is one of the largest money makers at GM. They sell them by the hundreds of thousands per year in China - plus they are kicking it right here in the US.

Thats news to me.

I know they were popular in China. But I'm not Chinese and I can assure you as a part of the next generations they are viewed as Meme cars. I have not seen anyone around here under the age of 60 driving one. There days are numbered.

I admit I was wrong about there current numbers and chose the wrong forum to talk about GM Negatives :D.

Ha! Not at all. I just wanted you to know that they are currently doing fine. A few years ago, they were not. Looks like somebody at Buick is paying attention - finally.

Your comment about their days being numbered makes no sense.

I agree. I think they are set up nicely to do very well.

They are some of the nicest vehicles GM is producing right now and they will continue to gain traction unless someone really fucks up. The new Enclave is due to be released soon as well.

Those Regals are good looking cars IMO. I never thought I'd say that, but they really are. If I were in the market for a car in that class I'd have to strongly consider the Buick. Super sharp family truckster.

They make a supercharged or turbo Buick currently I think....something I was reading about one that seems more family sedan but actually puts down some good all around numbers, not sure which one it is though....I have slept since reading it. :)

Slap a twin-turbo 3.6L Alloytec with direct injection, convert it to RWD (not so hard to do because its platform is already used in some AWD vehicles) and there's a good base for a new GNX.

Like it says in this article: http://jalopnik.com/5889290/the-next-gnx-buick-could-build

But they could easily build a hi-po AWD version of the Regal, which they already do in Europe. It's called the Insignia OPC and it looks mean, gets 325 horsepower and has a torque-vectoring Haldex AWD system. And that's the one they should and easily could build.
This one sounds much better than the SLP version to me.

From the OPC article:

When GM takes that enjoyable, 220 HP front wheel drive car and puts a stonkin' 325 HP, 2.8-liter turbocharged V6 with a six speed manual and a Haldex all-wheel-drive system in it capable of rear-axle torque vectoring, it's a fair bet we'll be giddy with excitement. Then they add 14-inch (front) Brembo binders, Recaro bucket seats.

I really love the original GNX, in fact it's one of my "if I hit the lottery" cars. GM doesn't own the rights to the "GNX" name anymore and I doubt they would buy the name back for such a car. Does a 4 door GNX bother me? No, no it doesn't.

I'm sure this will be nothing more than a PCM tune and a different hood and they'll charge a boat load for it. That Opel variant sounds like the real option.
