Being LSX enthusiasts and Buick Grand National fans at the same time, it’s can be tough to decide which is our favorite genre. There’s no denying that the LS-swap is finding its way into pretty much anything imaginable, but to the dismay of Buick purists the world over, a few have ended up in our favorite ’80s musclecar. Truthfully, we’re not sure why someone would yank the factory turbocharged Buick V6 for an LS engine. Stock to stock, the aluminum V8 obviously makes more power than the 6-shooter, but as everyone by now knows, the LC2 has amazing performance potential all its own.
We have a few theories, however. The aftermarket the LS engines is immense, especailly when you compare it to what is available for the Buick-6, and at this point many Buick owners have toasted their original engines. In the end, it’s probably just easier and cheaper to modify an LS motor rather than buy and build an aftermarket-sourced Buick engine.
