I really don't trust the TPS. When I had my '07 and switched wheels and tires for winter/summer, it took the truck at least 20 minutes of driving to realize there were no sensors in my summer wheels.

Were your summer wheels in the back?

I did notice a similar issue with mine after I removed the wheels and drove away from them on the wheels without sensors. The readings when I checked were ---, yet the alarm didn't go off for a few minutes.

So, in the absence of sensors, it reacts differently than it would for a sensor that was showing decreasing pressure. The alarm goes off quickly when you are getting a flat. This I know for a fact.

Makes sense I guess. I never let all the air out of the tires to see how long it takes to realize it.

The tires were put in the basement and I still got the -- until about 20 minutes later, then the dummy light came on.

as long as it's not another bogus thing (like TPMS) that discount tire is gonna tack on to my bill then I'm fine.

TPMS is bogus?

Mine has always worked well and even informed me once of a puncture long before I damaged the tire or ended up in an accident.

I'm a big fan.

I meant bogus in the idea that every time I have to get a tire patched or a new tire put on all these tire shops sell me the "oh we can't use the same sensor once the tire comes off the wheel BS. Even when the tire only has a thousand miles on it.

If it remains optional, I think it's a cool idea.

If the Gov decides to ram it down everybody's throat like they did TPMS I think it's bullshit. I do like TPMS... just don't think we need everything mandated by another law..

I totally agree, half the morons on the road don't even know what any of their idiot lights mean or they just ignore it until a larger/ more obvious problem occurs that forces them to do something, so why bother requiring it?

Well, then the tire guy is bogus. You do need to replace the valve stem but not the sensor itself.
