There's minimal power loss... You'd notice it more if you're hauling heavy, but your average fuel mileage on the dash takes a huge dump

You won't notice it driving, just on idle. Both my Duramax and Kubota skid steer will regen with and require a higher RPM at idle for a matter of time. I don't take time to notice but I think that it regens about once to every other fillups on fuel. My truck holds 60 gallons for whatever that counts for.
My brother has a '16 Denali tuned to the hilt with about 550hp to the wheels. He got one of the best deals that I have seen on a Denali when he bought it a little over 7-8 months ago at the door for 55k.
He was already looking at trading it on a '17 because they are heavily rebated here lately. We both almost flew out to Illinois because there was a dealer there that had '17 Denali's at $58, they stopped running these rebates and are at $61k now.

Regens seem to be between 500 and 700 miles for me, running 95% unloaded during the winter. haven't been towing during a regen yet, so can't really comments on the power loss, as there's plenty of power to keep the empty truck moving

I kinda figured that, but I came across it in my research and thought I would ask.
How long does a regen usually take?
Depends on how plugged up she is.. But I think 7 minutes on average should be close. It's been over a year since my last regen, lol.

I'd agree, under 10 minutes for regen.
It varies, and is will occur in shorter intervals if you do a lot of stop and go, low speed city driving. I can go on, and on about it and give you examples for the GM.
Mileage takes a hit during regen, but my power never really does.
As for that crap, don't try anything like that. There are no magic helpers. I have been involved with EGR, DPFs, DOCs, and SCR since its inception. You can either remove it all, or live with it, and understand it. I have seen every trick in the book on class 7-8 trucks, and there are some really crazy additives out there, avoid them.
Agree, no additives really needed to keep regens down. About the best thing you can do is find a really good, high turnover fuel source so that you know the fuel is fresh. The U.S.'s diesel fuel is junk compared to our European counterparts.
You can also try running a cetane boost. It will help with getting a cleaner burn which could reduce soot.
So, I think I am leaning toward the Denali. I have gone through weighing what I want/need (need is a very loose term because I could probably get by with a 1/2 tone with a tow package).
It breaks down like this. Fully optioned and money not being an object I would put the Super Duty on top, but money is an object so not wanting to pay for the extras that would put the Ford over the top changes things. GM vs Ford optioned equally they are about equal price then, but at that point I prefer the GM.
Now between the GM brothers I go back and forth. I love the looks of the High Country, but also like the looks of the Denali. Price is pretty equal between the two. The thing that gives the Denali the slight edge is the gauge setup. I like the 8inch digital gauge set up. So, unless I can find a High Country for a couple grand cheaper (otherwise equally optioned) I will most likely end up with a Denali.
Now I am just sitting back watching the deals. I'm not going to pull the trigger until I can get around $10,000 off sticker. I'm in no rush.
