Thanks guys.

I just realized though, the color is quite different from my valve cover. I think he powder either became too old, or it became damp overtime. It was sitting in the pcoaters garage for a long time. Oh well, it's gonna be underneath the car anyway lol.

Back on the turd.

Went to salvage yard I had previous luck at, they had a 92-92 engine cradle. of which I wanted to powdercoat in the same silver vein powder since I have a ton of it left over. My existing engine cradle is al beat up, has tears in the steel from being pulled up onto a flat bed once or twice, has a fair amount of rust, and as notched to fit a downpipe, looked like a hack job too.

So, I arrive, and am amazed at how clean it is, buy it for a fair price ($117, they quoted me $200 over the phone lol), get home, get under my car and realize they're NOT the same. Guy claims it came out of a 1992, it's def a later cradle, possibly even 97-02 with low mileage since there is barely a spec of rust on it.

After some research and info from a few knowledgeable fellow saturn forum members, I realize I can still use. The only difference is the A/C stuff is different (no prob since I haven't had A/C in the car sicne 1996), and the radiator tabs are different as is the radiators 94+, again no problem sicne I was thinking of getting a new radiator anyway, then one of the dogbone brackets is different, something I can get from any salvage yard. All in all, not a bad thing it ended up being a much newer cradle.

Degreased and powerwashed, almost too nice to strip. I just feel it'll look just too cool under there in the silver vein.

Dan, is your engine hoist free, or is it holding up your old engine still? If so, I may have to rent one, cause I was also thinking of replacing the oil pan which i noticed is all dented. Not sure the 4x4 jig would allow us you remove/replace the oil pan depending on where it's being chained/held from

And then we have the weird and unexplainable.

I open my hood and discover this.

Looks like some small animal collected small leaves, electrical tape and grey foam pieces and made a bed in my valve cover?

So I proceed vacuum it off and it get's worse. This SOB (whatever it was, mouse, chipmonk etc) ate away at the damned tops of the Accel shock boots, what the hell. The grey foam is from the underside of the steel behind the radiator shroud, it's all bitten off from there too, what a mess.

:wtf?:
