They have had propane injection for a long time... so who knows why they haven't made it more mainstream. :dunno:

Because of the infrastructure of gas stations. It would cost to much to have propane filling stations across the nation. At least that is how I view it. Makes sense to me. Heck just the other day I came across this. A propane powered mower. Way cool if you ask me. Gets the same in fuel economy as gas and doesn't pollute as much.

Propane requires "certified" people... Ever notice you can't fill up your propane bottles?

No self service allowed.

Propane exhaust makes me nauseous

We have a large network of propane and CNG gas operated fleets here in Texas. A HUGE number of our state owned fleet run on CNG since it's everywhere here.

one of the trucks here at work runs on propane. My dad loves the way it runs! Plus engines last longer when they run on propane or cng, it burns cleaner.

Plus will keep your engine cleaner.

:werd: Propane is filled by weight not volume.

They only run good when tuned to run on only propane...

Usually when they're timed/tuned to run on both, they don't run great on either fuel

AMSOIL even makes an oil specifically for natural gas operated vehicles.

I wonder why it isn't recommended for vehicles modified to us propane or natural gas? I'll have to call and find out. :)

Propane might work good down there in the lower states......But up here in northern canuckville when it gets to sub 40 below propane engines aint the easiest to start. I used to drive a propane powered 91 GMC 1500 Van with over 450 000kms(279 617miles)on the clock and the engine still ran like a swiss watch, the rest of the van ...not so much.

ATCO gas( Natural gas company) has updated many of their fleet to run on CNG, unfortunately there is no infastructure for it here. In the 90s many of the cabs here ran on LPS and now they all run on gas...appearently fuel milage don't measure up with propane with the cost differences being so minimal.
