Rocker panel nightmare!!! Linex???

Wow, that's some of the worst rust I've seen on a GMT800!

Well, you can't go as high as you have pictured in your OP because Dan did that and he's "the pickle" so we'd have nothing to call yours since it is black too.

Look at Riggs' thread (see post 23 for results) and do what he did. Of course, you'd have to replace the rockers obviously.

Body shop got the replacement panels that I ordered from Raybuck yesterday. I will post up some pics when it comes out of the shop.

make sure you do something to your rockers afterward right away on my 97' (check my car domain in signature for pics) i had the rockers replaced and when i sold it two years later they were STARTING to rust again but i sold it before i had to deal with the headache again, i paid $800 dollars cash the first time

although i have never seen a GMT-800 rust out like that before

what you should do is maybe have them spray some sort of bedliner material in the inner rocker panel or whatever it is call behind the rockers, before they weld the new ones on the outside

After the rockers are done its going to Linex. Then I am bringing it home to undercoat it with Lizard skin.

Yeah the rest of the truck is great. Just the rockers are rusted out. 6 years up north and this is what happens. Im never going back, Southern Bound.

Well after much thought I took the boldy moldings off. I really liked them on the truck but figured if the chrome ever started to peel I would end up taking them off anyway then it would be back to Linex.
