Yesterday was a sad day – GM’s agreements with Pontiac dealers expire on Oct 31, marking the official end of the brand’s last vestiges after 84 years. The high point of Pontiac sales came in 1973, with 920,000 new cars leaving dealer showrooms, and over the course of the brand’s history more than 40 million Pontiacs were sold.

Though the last Poncho rolled off the assembly line nearly a year ago, many new cars were still left in the pipeline and dealers were faced with the thankless task of moving the inventory for a brand that no longer existed, much as Oldsmobile dealers had done in 2004.
So long, old friend. We’ll miss you.
