Thats a good idea. I've also got that same MP3 player. I think it was a pretty good deal for $39.
so....how would we light our ciggarettes??

How hard is it to have a lighter/matches in your vehicle? And this mod is for non-smokers. :D

We could wire the cigarette lighter in the smoking area...aka the bed.

Very neat, does anybody know if there's an adapter I could get for my factory GMT-400 radio without a cd play in my 96, to have rca plugs so I could add this input?

Thanks in advance

I would get one of those FM transmitters.

I know for a fact that if you route the headphone jack straight into the RCA any auxilary amps will work just fine because they are the same input voltage range. You just wont have the head unit adjustment or the connected truck speakers.

Where do you connect it to the head unit? Also how do you select AUX input on the stock HU?

That what I did before this, that's why the cubby has a hole in the second picture.

You just have the ordinary cassette player without speed-sensitive volume, right? That's what my old truck had originally, unfortunately it doesn't have a connector for the factory slave CD player, so you can't use an auxiliary adapter with it. Unless it's possible to open up the radio and tap into the wiring between the cassette player and the amp, your best bet is to get a different radio or use a hard-wired FM modulator.

Did you get the 8GB? I think I paid close to $70 for mine. It's a great MP3 player though.

I'm using the iSimple ISGM575 adapter with my factory headunit, it gives you an iPod interface and an auxiliary input.

You can also do this if you have factory XM: http://www.chevyavalanchefanclub.com/cafcna/index.php/topic,93646.0.html
