Well, I had to hold off on the installation for today. I thought I had some leftover MDF to make spacers, but of course I didn't. Plus there was a few other set backs like relatives stopping by to visit, mexican food from yesterday checking out, etc.

For shits and giggles, I put one side in (with the window rolled up) and A/B demoed the D3 and the 356cs sets. The midbass of the 356cs wasn't as great as I thought earlier, about equal with the D3 woofer. The 356cs set definitely has a smoother sound, but it doesn't seem to want to get as loud as the D3 set (87db sensitivity vs. 91db). However, I can't really make an apples to apples comparison until I completely install the entire set.

But how much did you pay for the D3's? Im sure it wasn't 135$

I installed a pair of these in my neighbors 01 Chevy 1/2 ton. He found this deal on another truck site. He is running the factory head unit with no amp. They do not sound very good. They need power and then I think they would rock. Nice looking speakers just need some juice.
